Latest reports show that cases of COVID-19 in the U.S. are now doubling every three days… an exponential spread that is unprecedented in our lifetimes.
But fear has spread even faster, infecting us all with sick feelings about the future.
Let’s look at our common fears:
FEAR that you will get sick… you either will, or you won’t; worrying means you are already suffering before any illness presents itself. Save your energy.
FEAR that your family won’t have enough money or food… this one is dangerous, because it focuses your attention on your little inner circle and we are all in this together. This fear causes us to buy ALL of whatever it is that WE think WE will need… and too bad about our neighbor, who came in after us only to find empty shelves.
FEAR that life will change… it already has, it’s too late to fear the changes; it is time to adapt.
Adapt? How?
That is what we will all learn, together, as this situation continues to develop.
“The best way to resist FEAR is to find ways to help others. Perhaps just a phone call during which, instead of one-upping each other with scary stories, we try to reduce each others’ fears,” suggested The Old Lady. “This is not the time for ME AND MINE… this is a time for WE AND OURS.”
